FAQ

What are unclaimed funds?

Is reclaiming unclaimed funds safe with your service?

Why wasn’t I notified about my unclaimed funds?

Unclaimed funds are money or assets that haven't been claimed by their rightful owner. These can include things like dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, stocks, insurance payouts, inheritances, mutual funds, and more. Often, these funds go unclaimed due to outdated contact information, name changes, or simply being forgotten over time.

After a certain period, unclaimed funds are reported to the state as abandoned property. The state holds these funds, using them for state programs while earning interest. Unfortunately, many people owed money are never properly notified or aren't aware of the steps required to claim it. That’s where we step in to help.

Why wasn’t I notified about my unclaimed funds?

There are always attempts to contact every individual owed, but these efforts often fail due to outdated information, like incorrect addresses or discontinued phone numbers. You may have moved, missed a phone call, or the mail might have been sent to your old address after you relocated, making it easy for notifications to get lost.

After 2-3 years of unsuccessful contact, property holders are legally required to report the funds as abandoned property and transfer them to the state. As licensed state fund locators, we help reconnect you with your unclaimed funds and guide you through the process.

No, there is absolutely no out-of-pocket cost to you. Our service is designed to be risk-free. Once we successfully process your claim, the state will issue a check directly to you for the amount owed. Only after you receive your payment does the state pay us a processing commission from those same funds.

We operate on a no-payment-until-success basis, meaning if you don’t get paid, we don’t get paid. This ensures we are fully motivated and committed to handling your claim efficiently, and we stand by our guarantee that you will receive your funds. Your success is our success.

What forms of identification are required for the notary appointment?

The two main forms of identification needed are proof of ID and proof of address. Acceptable proof of ID includes a valid passport, driver’s license, state ID, or birth certificate. For proof of address, you’ll need to provide a recent utility bill or another document that verifies you receive mail at the reported address.

If the primary owner connected to the claim is deceased, a copy of the death certificate will be required. These documents are necessary for the state to confirm your identity and ensure the funds are sent to the rightful individual.

Depending on the type of claim, additional documentation may be needed. We will guide you through the entire process and make sure you have everything required to release the funds.
